What is P.L.T.W?
WHEN STUDENTS UNDERSTAND HOW STEM EDUCATION IS RELEVANT TO THEIR LIVES AND FUTURE CAREERS, THEY GET EXCITED. INVOKING EXCITEMENT IS WHAT PLTW DOES ON A REGULAR BASIS AND THE REASON OUR STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL.
.Project Lead The Way provides a comprehensive approach to STEM Education. Through activity-, project-, and problem-based curriculum, PLTW gives students in kindergarten through high school a chance to apply what they know, identify problems, find unique solutions, and lead their own learning.

PLTW 7 - Forensic and Environmental Engineering
In this semester long course, students will begin by exploring many different engineering fields. We will then focus on the Medical Detectives (MD) Unit: Students play the role of real-life medical detectives as they analyze genetic testing results to diagnose disease and study DNA evidence found at a “crime scene.” They solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, investigate how to measure and interpret vital signs, and learn how the systems of the human body work together to maintain health.
PLTW 8 - Innovations and Robotic Engineering
– In this year long course, we will explore three major units: 1. Design and Modeling (DM): Students apply the design process to solve problems and understand the influence of creativity and innovation of engineers in their daily lives. Through the use of industry grade software and our 3D Printer students will design and create virtual images to meet the needs of the problems presented. The Automation and Robotics (AR) Unit: Students trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms. The Science of Technology (ST) Unit Science impacts the technology of yesterday, today, and the future. Students apply the concepts of physics, chemistry, and nanotechnology to STEM activities and projects, including making ice cream, and cleaning up an oil spill.
**Please stay tuned for upcoming pictures of projects and such. This is a work in progress! There is MORE TO COME!**
